F.2.3 Research

In regard to the specific activity F.2.3 Research we have carried out the following activities. A detailed report concerning all the research activities we have carried out can be downloaded below.

F.2.3.1

Searching and processing high quality documentation for all lesson plans at primary level

The aim of this activity was to find documentation in order to prepare the necessary learning materials for Primary Education. We did so by creating a research team consisting of academic researchers and co-researchers who then selected the documentation following a series of criteria.

Then, as we had stated in our application, the results of this research activity were presented during an international event. Further information can be found in our F.2.3 Research report.

F.2.3.2

Searching and processing high quality documentation for all lesson plans at secondary level

The aim of this activity was to find documentation in order to prepare the necessary learning materials for Secondary Education. We did so by creating a research team consisting of academic researchers and co-researchers who then selected the documentation following a series of criteria.

Then, two articles resulting from this research activity were published in indexed journals. Further information can be found in our F.2.3 Research report.

F.2.3.3

Salvador de Madariaga, culture as the foundation for European unity

Salvador de Madariaga is one of the most globally renowned personalities of the Europeanist movement of mid- twentieth century. We had access to a magnificent tool to study his contribution to the European integration process, his personal archive, which was donated to the Instituto José Cornide de Estudios Coruñeses (A Coruña, Spain). The exhaustive information retrieval from this archive was complemented by the visit to the Historical Archives of the European Union (Florence).

The aim of this research was to trace back the impact of Madariaga with regard to the configuration of the idea of Europe and his commitment to culture as its backbone. Several articles have resulted from this research activity (some already published in indexed journals and other accepted for publication). Further information can be found in the F.2.3 Research report.

Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Theses

Within the framework of our project, six Bachelor’s Degree theses and four Master’s Degree theses have been developed by students. Mentoring students from both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees to carry out their respective theses about topics related to this project has allowed us, on the one hand, to involve future teachers in the importance of including European culture in their teaching practice –since most of the students were from the Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education and from the Master’s Degree for Secondary Education teachers; on the other hand, these Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree theses have served as indicators that have allowed us to measure the impact of our project. Further information can be found in the F.2.3 Research report.
