About the Project

European Culture: A Contribution for a New Narrative of Europe, is the title of a cultural and educational Jean Monnet project that seeks to address a specific problem: the virtual absence of modern European culture in the school curricula at non-university levels of education in the region of Galicia.

In order to build a “Europe of values”, with freedom and human dignity as original benchmarks, it is necessary to introduce conceptual, procedural and attitudinal contents on European culture among the next generations.

Objectives

We want to involve the educational community in the broadest sense: students, teaching staff, regional educational authorities and grandparents.

Arousing Inclusive Interest
Arouse interest in the knowledge and development of European culture among the non-university educational community, as an underlying support for a stronger European integration, including students who have some degree of deafness.
Inspiring New Generations
To revive the role of people over 55 as invigorating agents of that European culture, providing their experience and their educational socialisation function towards the new generations
Involve University
To involve university academia in research with the opportunity to deepen in the founding principles of the European spirit as established by pioneers of the last century’s middle years.

Innovation

European Culture: a contribution for a New Narrative of Europe aims to contribute valuably to the three specific objectives of the Jean Monnet Projects, albeit not to the same degree. In fact, this project will clearly prioritise the objective of innovation, as we will focus on the development and delivery of appropriate pedagogical content and new/adapted didactic material for the teaching of European Union issues at the level of Primary and Secondary education.
